Think – Tank Pilot Programme

Think – Tank Pilot Programme

The project is aimed at placing Muslim women’s lived experiences at the heart of policy and practice, so that it reflects them and their views and needs.

What does the project aim to achieve?

Through this project MWC hope to establish the critical importance of Muslim women with lived experience and the development of their role in society, and change how their lived experience is viewed and valued in policy and decision making at all levels. We aim to enrich and correct the knowledge landscape by ensuring that new relevant research is produced and contributing to building trust between communities and research institutes whilst creating opportunities for Muslim women. The evidence, recommendations and solutions generated by them will be used to show how governments, donor institutions and the private sector can help create conditions that allow Muslim women to thrive. Through the up skilling of these women we are making them the authors of the solutions that they own and nurture to help alleviate poverty now and in the future. We are creating a legacy of future leaders, researchers and advocates who will inspire others around them. As part of this training we will present their papers and findings on our website, social media and to other agencies such as media, universities, research agencies, local authorities, government departments, etc.

Duration of Project:

The project will run over a 12 month period and we will capture the learning from it. We will use this learning to strengthen our position to better provide support for, prevent and mitigate the shocks and stresses of women who are vulnerable and in poverty.

What will you as participants get out of it:

  • An opportunity to learn and develop key skills that will be of use to you in the Think Tank Pilot programme and in other spheres of your working and personal/social lives
  • Build you level of confidence in being able to articulate your views and structure your viewpoint to present to stakeholders
  • Be part of a credible programme that will inform key policy makers and funder what the real issues are for Muslim women
  • A certificate of attendance listing the key skills you have developed
  • An acknowledgement in any report MWC publishes that is based on the work of the Think Tank Pilot Programme
  • Reimbursement of any cost incurred to attend, e.g. bus fare, childcare
