Ammi's Achar

Ammi’s Achar

With funding from the Rank Foundation Profit for Good scheme, MWC launched its first social enterprise scheme in 2019, Ammi’s Achar, with local women producing mixed pickle (achar).

It’s a common phrase that ‘food brings people together’, and the ladies who created this achar can certainly vouch for that!  The ladies, whilst making the pickle, reminisced on cooking with their loved ones, told stories, sang songs and increased their confidence & entrepreneurial skills.

We were inspired to create the brand name ‘Ammi’s achar’ by the ladies who produced the pickle, who are all mothers. There is nothing like a mother’s home cooking, and ‘Ammi’ is the Urdu/Punjabi word for mother.

With the constant demand for authentic dishes, what can be more authentic than home-made pickle? Bursting with flavour from the infusion of various spices & herbs, achar is undoubtedly a family favourite all year round.

Please get in touch if you would like to purchase jars of our delicious Ammi’s achar!
