New weekly drop-in service launched by West Yorkshire Police in partnership with the Muslim Women’s Council

Who What Why When Where How

West Yorkshire Police are launching a new drop-in service in order to make it easier and more accessible to report a crime. There have been concerns raised by the local authorities and service providers that members of the community are not reporting crimes due to a number of reasons. The initiative is being supported by the Muslim Women’s Council.

By engaging with people in the community West Yorkshire Police are hoping to build bridges and more importantly trust, in the hope that more people will come forward to report a crime. There have always been sections of the community who may not feel comfortable reporting a crime on the phone or in person at a police station; this initiative will provide another way for people to come forward. The service will be open to all sections of the community.

The drop-in sessions will take place on a weekly basis every Tuesday starting from 2nd October, from 12pm – 2pm. The session will take place at the Muslim Women’s Council Office at the Carlisle Business Centre.
