MWC hosts two Palestinian teachers

Group of women

Muslim Women’s Council were delighted to host two Palestinian teachers, Fatheya Abu Hilal & Im Shadi, on Thursday 5th March, inviting other Bradfordians to meet them. The visit was organised by local Bradford residents Riffat Akram and Molly Kenyon.

Fatheya and Im Shadi shared their experiences of life in Palestine, raising awareness of the challenges people face on a daily basis. The attendees learned about the resilience and perseverance shown by residents in the face of extreme adversity.

Bana Gora, CEO of Muslim Women’s Council, said “The Palestinian women shared their heartbreaking and tragic daily struggles. What was so amazing was their strength and willpower in achieving and fulfilling their aspirations & dreams. While travelling from their homes to universities and work, they were likely to experience harassment at Israeli army checkpoints. Despite all these harsh conditions, women are engaging, participating & ensuring they have a vital stake in finding solutions to the conflict. They aim to provide safety and certainty for the next generation by continuing dialogue with the international community. Power to the women, let peace & justice prevail”.
