MWC hosts inaugural Bereavement Support Service For Women

Group of women

The Muslim Women’s Council launched a bereavement support service for women, on Thursday 13th February.
The session was facilitated by a bereavement support practitioner at Carlisle Business Centre, 60 Carlisle Road, Bradford BD8 8BD.

Nicola Clarke, Bereavement Support Practitioner at Child Bereavement UK said:

It was wonderful to see such a great turn out for the first Muslim Women’s Council bereavement support group. There is a huge need for both improvement and access to such services across the city. It was exceedingly reassuring to see services collaborate in order to support these women. In the UK, when a baby or child dies, or a child is bereaved, many of those affected are unable to access good quality support which meets their individual needs. Child Bereavement UK believes all families should have the support they need to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or a child dies. Our aim is to make sure they do”.

Bana Gora CEO, Muslim Women’s Council said:

“We have all lost loved ones and grieved in some form or another, however so many people out there don’t have any support. The session was a great safe space for sharing, grieving and uplifting each other.  The next session will take place on Thursday 26th March from 6pm to 8pm”.
