Muslim Women’s Council Celebrates Nine Years of the Curry Circle at Christmas session

Muslim Women’s Council has been delivering the Curry Circle, our weekly food initiative, since December 2013. The Curry Circle provides a hot two-course meal for people who are homeless or struggling to feed themselves.  Together with our catering partner MyLahore Bradford, we have proudly provided over 68,000 hot meals since the project was established.

Due to the unprecedented effects of COVID-19, since March 2020 the sessions have been changed to a hot meal takeout service from the Manningham Library, from 4pm to 5:30pm on Thursdays.

At our ninth anniversary Christmas session on Thursday 22nd December, our volunteers distributed the takeout meals and Christmas treats to over 160 service users, with donations from Asda Foundation and Booker Cash & Carry.

Bana Gora, Chief Executive Officer of the MWC, said:

In these challenging times, we are thankful that we are able to support those in need. We are grateful to all our volunteers and supporters, especially our catering partner MyLahore and our donors, for helping us distribute food & gifts at such a special time of year.
