What a 30-Day Fast Does to Your Body

What a 30-Day Fast Does to Your Body

In Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims fast everyday from dawn till sunset, except those excused for medical or other reasons e.g. travelling. Here are the four phases one's body go through while fasting for 30 days.

Stage 1 Detoxification (Day 1 To Day 2)

The blood sugar level decreases on the first day of fasting. The heart rate lowers and blood pressure drops. Glycogen is drawn from the muscle, creating some weakening. The first wave of cleansing would be the most severe. It is characterised by dizziness, headaches, nausea, bad breath, and a coated tongue. During this time, hunger can be very acute.

Detoxification Stage 2 (Day 3 To Day 7)

Fats, which are made up of altered fatty acids, are decomposed to liberate glycerol from gliceride molecules, which is then turned to glucose. As rancid oils are expelled from the body, the skin can turn oily. People with normal skin may get certain days of acne or possibly a boil.
The body accepts the fast, allowing the digestive system to relax and spend its resources on cleansing and repairing. The activity of white blood cells and the immune system intensifies. You may get pulmonary pain. The cleansing organs and lungs are currently being mended.
The colon is being healed within the intestine, and impacted feces on the intestinal wall begin to unwind. The tongue and the breath remain respectively coated and unpleasant.

Stage 3 Detoxification (Day 8 to Day 15)

You will have more energy, clarity of mind, and feel better. Old injuries, on the other hand, may become inflamed and uncomfortable. This is due to the body's enhanced ability to mend while fasting. The body's mending process is at its most efficient when fasting.
As the body searches for dead or damaged tissue, lymphocytes enter and secrete chemicals that disintegrate the damaged cells. These substances  agitate the nerves surrounding the area, causing aches from previously wounded locations. The discomfort is beneficial since the body is finishing the healing process.
Toxin inflammation can cause muscles to feel stiff and uncomfortable. Cankers are frequent at this stage due to an abundance of microorganisms in the mouth. These may be prevented by gargling with salt and water on a daily basis.

Stage 4 Detoxification (Day 16 to Day 30)

The fasting procedure has thoroughly adjusted the body. Cleansing episodes might be brief, alternated with numerous days of good feeling. On some days, the tongue is pink and the breath is clear. The organs' mending process is nearing completion.
After the detoxification processes have cleared or rendered the causative substance harmless, the body engages in tissue proliferation at full capacity to substitute for damaged tissue.
There is an impact on the mind after day 20. This is a moment of increased clarity and emotional equilibrium. Memory and focus are enhanced.
