Manchester Museum's £15M Renovation Focuses on South Asian Culture

The South Asian Gallery was built as part of a £15 million makeover of Manchester Museum.

It is described as the "first permanent gallery in the UK to celebrate the lived experiences and contributions of the South Asian diaspora."

The South Asia Gallery  coordinator Nusrat Ahmed said:

We want to show the richness and diversity of South Asia.
It was to break down stereotypes and myths, and it was to highlight South Asia as being at the forefront of many things.

A panel of 24 individuals curated the gallery.
