Games may be Paused so that Players can Break their Ramadan Fast

Premier League and English Football League (EFL) authorities have been requested to offer a chance for players to break their fast during the end of the day games throughout Ramadan.

Following conversation with league administration, refereeing body Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has urged officials to investigate if any players or personnel are fasting prior to kick-off during this month. A natural pause in play will then be established to allow whoever is fasting to go to the side of the pitch and break their fast.

A number of players, notably N'Golo Kante of Chelsea, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, and Ilkay Gundogan of Manchester City, are expected to observe Ramadan.
