Iftar in the Park

On 18th June 2017, hundreds of Bradfordians of all faiths and none flocked to Bradford City Park to share a meal at ‘Iftar in the Park’. This event was a joint initiative with the Jo Cox Foundation celebrating the legacy of Jo Cox who was murdered on June 16th 2016, and also marking the month of Ramadan when Muslims fast, with the Big Iftar.

The atmosphere in City Park was buzzing with warmth and friendship, as people from all walks of life pulled together in peace and togetherness, listening to performers recite devotional prayers and speakers talk of Bradford as a city not for some but for all, before sharing a meal together as the sun set on Bradford.

The Muslim Women’s Council worked with a range of local partners including Bradford Council, Martin House Hospice, Bradford Council for Mosques, Bradford Reform Synagogue, Touchstone Bradford, Wellsprings Together Bradford, Carlisle Business Centre, Noor Ul Islam Mosque, Saveco Cash & Carry. The food was generously donated by MyLahore, Akbar’s Restaurant, and Aziz Catering.

There were over 500 attendees and this infographic is derived from the evaluation forms collected on the day.
