Muslim Women’s Council Celebrates Eight Years of the Curry Circle at Christmas session

Muslim Women’s Council has been delivering the Curry Circle, our weekly food initiative, since December 2013. The Curry Circle provides a hot two-course meal for people who are homeless or struggling to feed themselves. Together with our catering partner MyLahore Bradford, we have proudly provided over 56,000 hot meals since the project was established.

Due to the unprecedented effects of COVID-19, since March 2020 the sessions have been changed to a hot meal takeout service from the Manningham Library, from 4pm to 6pm on Thursdays. 

Muslim Women’s Council supports essential wellbeing service for the community

Hop on is a community organisation providing vital support in Bradford, working on improving physical and mental health through activities such as cycling, yoga and coaching tailored to each individual.

The organisation has been running since 2016 and has 3000 people registered with them. The majority of these women are from a South Asian background; a community in which cycling is the exception, rather than the norm. 

Muslim Women’s Council CEO recognised for community work

Local and international dignitaries were in attendance yesterday at Bradford City Hall, as Muslim Women’s Council Chief Executive Bana Gora received the 2021 Peacemaker Award following her nomination last year, from the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace (CSJP), from New Jersey (USA).

Bana has been awarded in recognition of her outstanding contribution to peace making and work for justice in light of the CSJP founder Margaret Anna Cusack’s life and work, and the continuing work of the CSJP.

Muslim Women’s Council CEO receives Peacemaker Award from America

Muslim Women’s Council Chief Executive Bana Gora has been chosen to receive the 2021 Peacemaker Award following her nomination last year, from the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace (CSJP), from New Jersey (USA).
