The Muslim Women’s Council is hosting a powerful evening of reflection at Pearls Tea Room (46 Rooley Lane, BD6 1DA) on Wednesday 25th June from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, a group of women will be sharing their deeply moving experiences from their recent visit to Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem.
What began as a sacred pilgrimage to one of Islam’s most revered sites soon turned into a harrowing experience as tensions in the region escalated dramatically. Yet amid the chaos, what the women experienced was not only danger- but spiritual clarity, unity, and profound strength.
“Walking away from Al-Aqsa, I felt like my heart was being shredded into pieces,” shared Bana, CEO of the Muslim Women’s Council. “We prayed Fajr on the hotel rooftop, under the open sky, not knowing if we would ever return again.”
During the visit, the women witnessed firsthand the heightened military presence, the restrictions on worshippers, and the very real threat of violence, with sirens wailing across the City and constant emergency alerts in the Hebrew language, prompting widespread fear and panic. Yet despite this, they felt spiritually grounded, uplifted by the resilience of the Palestinian people and a sense of belonging to a larger ummah (community) that transcends borders and generations.
As missiles threatened Jerusalem, the British government offered no support in securing their evacuation, the urgency to leave became critical. “This visit was a gift- but also a wake-up call,” said a participant. “Masjid Al-Aqsa is not just ours to admire, it’s ours to protect- in faith, in memory, and in action.”
This community event will share stories of:
- Faith under fire: The courage to pray while under threat
- Resilience and love for Al-Aqsa: What it means to stand on sacred ground
- A renewed commitment: The Muslim Women’s Council’s vow to peace, justice, and interfaith solidarity
Join us in hearing from these remarkable women. Their journey has become a testament to the enduring power of belief, sisterhood, and global responsibility.
