One of the final projects our beloved sister Bana Gora devoted herself to was the Muslim Women’s Council Women’s Building Project, a bold and transformative vision created to serve women, families and the wider community for generations to come.

Launched by Bana in 2024, the project aims to establish a women led, multi purpose community institution in Bradford, rooted in empowerment, inclusion and lasting social impact. The space will provide vital support, opportunities and resources for Muslim women and women from ethnically diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds across the region.

Phase 1 of the project focuses on constructing the ground floor and basement, including a community café, kitchen and preparatory area. More than just a building, this project represents a long term investment in women’s leadership, wellbeing, education and community development.

Bana believed deeply in creating spaces where women could feel safe, valued, heard and empowered. Her vision was not simply to build a centre, but to create a lasting legacy of service, dignity and opportunity for future generations.

As a means of Sadaqah Jariyah for our beloved sister Bana, we invite our community to support a project that remained so close to her heart. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help continue the work and vision she dedicated her life to.
