There's a twinkle in my eyes, my thoughts are saying YIPPEE!

Being a widow is difficult in any era but this did not deter Khadijah (ra) from becoming a very successful merchant, the most successful of that time in fact. Whilst Khadijah did not travel herself for her business she employed men to travel to Syria, Makkah and Yemen to sell the products of furniture, silks and pottery. 

Me myself, I am all for boycotting. I don’t want my hard-earned money to be exchanged for blood money. But there is a question in my head. What about the innocent people working hard in their jobs for companies that fund Israel.

Living in the UK means we have access to all the basics and additional amenities that one would expect in this day and age. Whilst we live comfortably in a developed country that is seen as both powerful and progressive, others in the world are suffering terribly.

Allah says in the Quran in multiple verses that He has established man as a khalifa on this earth. However one chooses to translate this word, whether it be steward, guardian or caretaker, we are duty bound to take care of Allah’s magnificent creation.

Our dear friend Rudi Leavor, BEM sadly passed away on Tuesday at the age of 95. Rudi was a well-respected and much-loved Jewish community leader in Bradford.
